A huge change at work this week. One of the teams on the other side of my floor gained permission to get up and move once an hour. We have been getting notices from our wellness area that we need to do that but it has been frowned upon by management.

That team started all doing partial squats once an hour, it is spreading across the entire floor. Funny because about a year ago I was told NOT to do squats in my cube because it was distracting. Most people including the higher ups are now getting up and doing squats together!! It's a nice break and fun -- gets everyone smiling. Of course we are still on the phones and taking care of callers so join the group when we can. It seems to be a huge stress reliever as well.

The sun is out for a little bit more storms forecast for tonight and everyday for the next week. Sheesh, flashbacks of 1993. Heading outside after dinner. Too wet to work in the yard, my back yard this morning in the low places had 6 inches of standing water. May take crazy pup for a walk.

That is awesome about getting up and doing squats at work! If you forget to and see another employee doing it ..it can remind you to do it too . Anything to remove stress is a great thing! Keep up the great work WFN you are an inspiration to many!

I've been excited about this change this week. I was in on 4 or 5 of them today, the others I was busy with trades etc. Scuttlebutt is that the company is afraid of getting sued if there are health issues if they don't let us do something active periodically, since our wellness team is sending us emails to get up and move!!! Much of our staff is very overweight, in the obese and morbidly obese categories. Was glad to see some of them also up and doing the squats.

Good that you had some rain. I couldn't send you some....Cube society at work Glen, 4 foot by 5 foot space. Several hundred people on my floor. I work for a mutual fund transfer agency, customer service so am on the phone with share holders and brokers all day long. Often dealing with millions of dollars of trades and I'm also on the line for death claims. We are also tech support for our web sites, so fun trying to help a 95 yo client get online when they do not know what a browser is or the back arrow button LOL. As a cartoon that floats around at work-- a guy on the phone with a head set looking exasperated sayin "no, there are no capital numbers!! " So it's a pretty stressful job with many challenges. So these new squats are breaking the stress.

Some exercise tonight. Trampoline, dumb bells (arms), hula hoop and situps on the ball. Not much accomplished tired from this week. Broke down turned the ac on due to the humidity, not so much the temp as it is 80 so I could get a good night's sleep. A plus my old AC is working! a good sign. Storms are building to the West again. Flash flood watches and warnings for the area for later tonight and Sat am. I really hope this quits soon, I do not want to see a repeat of 1993 as the entire middle of the country has been being hit with all this rain.

Leading by example. How cool is that. I am glad you are getting some exercise time in.

Well it is about time - the downtrodden have arisen. Maybe the beginnings of a revolution!

Hoping this will continue. Someone dragged out the blue light yesterday (I think someone stole it from K-Mart and brought it in years ago) It has been banned because it is very annoying to many of us but it's now on a divider in the middle of the dept and was getting turned on to signal time for squats. Good use for it.

I like that idea! Management should realize when morale and health is boosted, so is productivity!

LOL - next you will incorporate hand weights and burpees!

Kiki, I think they are getting it very quickly!!! What are burpees? I do have some 2# hand weights at my desk. LOL... I use them fairly often just with simple arm exercises.

LOL - WFN - YouTube "burpees" to see - they are like jumping squats with pushups!

I love the visual image I get of the Blue Light Special on Squats going on now in Cube 37! :)

HCB that sounds painful!! I'll take a look, probably not something I will try, have never been able to do a proper pushup and my jumping is restricted to low impact on the little trampoline. ;) It's a fun and healthy change that I think will have a positive affect on everyone.
