Nikina70's Journal, 05 Nov 21

OK! I seem to have done better than I thought and that could be because it's shark week and unlike many others I always seem to lose in that week. No idea why. So far I've only managed 2 workouts and only 3 walks. But I'm ok with that. Feel like I couldn't really handle more this week so it is what it is. We will walk to a pub this evening for bonfire night and watching some fireworks and then I'll hopefully do another workout over the weekend and possibly a walk along the canals with hubby if the weather's good.

This morning I did:
Heather Robertson - LOW IMPACT // Total Body HIIT Workout with Weights (No Jumping)
Not bad, but I don't think she's as engaging as some of the other fitness YouTubers. But, I might try another one again sometime although she seems to do alot of HIIT, which I'm not a fan of.

The past two weeks my average daily calories was 2,000 so this week I'm really trying to reach that 1800 goal. If I can just get there and stay there for the next few weeks I think I'll see some more results, but we'll see how it goes.

It's all about the planning for me. Knowing what I'm having for each meal and snacks through the week makes all the difference. Thankfully hubby made a huge batch of his lentil veg soup this week so we froze half for next week - so lunch is sorted. Breakfast, if I'm having it, will be oats/cereal and protein powder. Dinner will probably be a hearty stew with meatless meatballs and then a pasta bake with lots of veg and Linda McCartney Red Onion & Rosemary Sausages with some grated vegan cheddar alternative on top. We'll be trying out a Free From Pasta Bake we got at Asda too.

Usually on the weekends the things that affect my calories badly are:
a) a huge fry up, which hubby seems to insist on every week (and always seems so disappointed if I say no [or is that just my imagination])
b) some kind of delicacy we inevitably buy on the weekends
c) having a glass of wine or a bottle of cider - because YOLO
Thankfully I don't seem to be having many crisps anymore so I'll go for a small portion of roasted salted peanuts sometimes as well while watching a movie.

I'm going to try to only partake in only one fry up - and try to keep my portions small. I'll try to only have one delicacy a day - whether that be a cupcake or doughnut - one and done per day! And I'll have a maximum of one bottle of cider, which is actually only about 220 calories tomorrow or Sunday (will probably have 2 already this evening at the pub, but that's already tracked) and one glass of wine on the other night. Don't mind me - just thinking aloud here...

Hope you're all heading steadily towards your end goals for November! Have a great weekend everyone! xxx

Nikina, you're doing such a good job keeping track of your intake and activity. That's wonderful! I understand about not wanting to put that look of disappointment/rejection on your husband's face when they offer you something they've cooked up. I think your strategy is a good one, having a small portion. 👍 You're doing great. Hopr you have a wonderful weekend. ❤

Thanks Ccandco! Yup, it's tough, but we are lucky to have husbands who like to cook/bake too so we're certainly not complaining. Hope you have a lovely weekend too! xxx

I like how you've identified what impacts you and set goals. Planning works best for me too! Enjoy the bonfire! It sounds wonderful!!!

Thanks Bear! The place we went to was a bit too crowded for our liking so we just took a stroll through the city for a bit and then headed home. Hope you're having a lovely weekend! 💕

Just curious, what do you mean by Heather not being as engaging as other Youtubers? I’ve done her for months and months and months and I love her. I’ve been just branching out because I wanted to see what else was out there. I actually like her HIIT sessions. Normally they target the entire body which is great if you only have three days a week to work out for example, you can do three full body workouts.

Oh yes. Forgot to mention the bonfire night which was last night. I grew up with bonfire night every year. It was one of the most fun times I ever had as a kid and I miss it so much. I talked to my parents yesterday and of course they had their bonfire this week. 🥰 🔥🌭 We always roasted wieners and marshmallows!! 😂

Wifey9707 - maybe I was a bit quick to judge Heather. I do intend to try more of her workouts. I just feel like some other YouTubers will look directly at the camera sometimes and show how hard that particular move was - as if we're in this together - whereas I felt like she was in her own world just doing her own workout and we weren't doing it together as such. It could just be me though. Both hubby and I were reminiscing about what we called Guy Fawkes night in SA too. It was a family event when we were kids usually with aunts, uncles and cousins there as well so we both have fond memories. We used to toast marshmallows too! So nice that your parents still do it. We didn't get the same feeling this year, but admittedly we've not been celebrating it in South Africa for years either. Fireworks are banned there in residential areas (without a permit) partly to protect domestic animals. They seem to have different laws in the UK or people are just better at doing it safely. We saw a great fireworks display with a concert in the park at the end of August so that will have to suffice for this year. Don't think we'll venture out again tonight although there are some more events going ahead. Hope you had a good bonfire night last night though! We ended up just watching a series on Netflix and having a glass of red wine each. xxx

Sorry for the long blob - I had paragraph spaces, but they always disappear when you enter it.

Haha. Oh, Now that you explain it I totally understand what you mean by Heather not looking at the camera. In other workouts, sometimes she will grin and look directly at the camera as if to say that was hard and I know you were feeling it. 😂😂 Give her a chance. I think you’ll like her. And maybe not. And that’s fine too. lol. She gives everything for free and that’s what drew me to her, her generosity and effectiveness. Caroline is also great and Heather mentions her sometimes. 💝

Cool! Thanks for your input, Wifey - I think she will become part of my go-to Channels. xxx

I love when you post what workout you did because it is made me go check out other Youtubers and I’ve enjoyed most of them. 😘
