Nikina70's Journal, 23 Jul 21

This week went fairly well so I'm not too phased by the small loss. Still on target for 69kg hopefully by next Friday. Did a decent amount of walking this week although I only cracked the 7,500 steps a day target on Wednesday when I did 13,000 walking into town twice to run an errand and do some shopping. Felt good, but then the next day I did absolutely no exercise using the heat as an excuse. My other days were hovering just below 7,000.

Hubby wasn't keen on the baked potato for lunch idea so we had lunch-time salads Mon-Wed and then yesterday we enjoyed avo on toast and will probably do the same again today.

Only did 2 YouTube workouts this week. This morning I did: JessicaSmithTV - 25 Min, Lose Your Love Handles! (standing abs exercises, belly fat burning workout) after a 48 minute early morning walk with hubby.

Waiting for two installations messes with your day when they constantly don't show up, but we're trying to be patient. New washing machine should arrive on Monday (fingers crossed) and then who knows how much longer it will take to get broadband set up. We've been let down by the first supplier we tried - wasting two weeks - so really trying not to use too much data for the time being. On the plus side I did some old-school handwashing (bit of an arm workout ringing out wet clothing) and I've gotten into a really good book for the first time in ages. Can't wait to join the library as well - waiting for proof of address for that too.

This week I had some treats as usual - all logged, but yesterday I was really tempted to have a glass of wine while we watched a movie and I resisted, thinking - today is weigh-in day. Having the scale in the corner of the kitchen also helped as I stepped on it to remind myself that I could have a good weigh-in this morning. In the end it wasn't that great, but I'm still glad I resisted. Will enjoy a glass this evening and another tomorrow night to celebrate the freakin' weekend!

Looks like I'll have to order my weights and plant based protein powder online and almost ready to do that. Might end up going to Argos for the first and Holland & Barrett for the second, but we'll see. Would be nice to get them before the start of August, but I will try to be patient for that as well - all the stars have not aligned just yet.

Anyhoo, hope you all have a great weekend! And to those in SA - stay safe and warm! xxx

Which book are you reading?

Thanks for the tip, PW! I've had a look, but it seems Argos might still be cheaper for the 20kg weight set I'm after. Afraid I'm on a bit of a budget.

yfritz, it's called Twisted by Jonathan Kellerman. Have enjoyed some of his Alex Delaware novels in the past, but this is the first with Petra Connor. An entertaining read so far.

Thanks Mermee! You set a great example when it comes to discipline so I can only attempt to follow. We've moved to the East Midlands - a city called Derby, which feels more like a town. We are half an hour's walk to two great parks and also into the city centre so really enjoying safe outdoor places to walk to from our doorstep. Also very close to Nottingham, which we've yet to explore as well. So far we really like it.

Happy🎉New🎊House❤️ p.s try either Amazon or the Sci-Mx website,,,Sci-Mx have started doing a plant protein powder and I've heard great things about it, I use the meal replacement one and it is really good, I buy mine on Amazon for around £20-25 for a 2k tub,,might be cheaper than Holland and Barrett!

Thanks Mermee! A bit of patience is needed with setting up all the change of address things, but we'd been working on this move for almost three years already so all in good time. Lots to explore though and we're enjoying getting lost here too (at least once a week). 😂

Aah, thanks Tim! During our stays with family and in Airbnb's with tiny kitchens it's been quite a challenge and I did end up putting on some weight during that time. But, it's great to get back into our comfortable routine again as you say. Slowly, but surely. Hope you're having a good weekend! ☀️

Thanks Bootylicious1! I will definitely look into that- sounds like a good price too! Hoping to get a chocolate or vanilla flavoured kind as I've not had great experiences with chalky unflavoured ones. Thank you for your kind words too! 💕

Thanks LC! Every week a little step closer to goal makes me happy. Thanks for the inspiration to strive for better with your 30,000 steps this week - mind boggling - I only ever got close to that when I did waitressing many years ago and was on my feet for 8-hour long shifts. Very impressive!!! 👍

Wow, that puts those 30,000 into perspective!

Thanks Petra! I think Amazon might be my best bet, yes. Thank you for your suggestion - I'll definitely take a look. xxx
