Nikina70's Journal, 20 Feb 21

Ok, so I'm owning up to the damage I did last weekend - not tracking and having lots of wine, pizza and vegetable lasagna. I didn't feel like guestimating and it most definitely went way over the 1850 calories I was aiming for - so we started again on Monday. This week I think I did ok, not great - so will just have to try to keep the weekend's calories in the right range and I'll be fine. Thankfully we're not eating out, which helps.

Did a total of 145 minutes of exercise so I should do another 35 today to hit my target, but I'll probably do 45 later. Also planning a short walk tomorrow in the beautiful sunshine.

Next week I'll stick to the same calorie goal to see if my weight changes and then decide from there. I don't want to lower my calories just yet because I just want to get to a stage where I'm comfortable with the level and feel like I can have some indulgences within that. At the moment I need to sort out my mid-week eating and I should be fine. For some reason things are creeping in that shouldn't be there. This week it was baking my favourite gingerbread biscuits with my sister and having too many of them as well as the odd Chai Latte or cappuccino stick to boot. Then hubby convinced me to have a slap chip roll on Thursday - gosh - how to say no... and that was that.

But, every week is an opportunity to keep at it and I did exercise and that's good. I was recently looking at old photos of the last time I was this weight - in 2014 - trying to see if I was or am now - 'fat' or not. I feel 'big' now, but I still fit into all my clothes, I just think I need to reel it in before I let go too much.

I was just at the start of using FatSecret and I was actually doing around 2 hours of exercise a week then. At the moment I'm only aiming for 3. I don't think I looked fat then and I'm actually still in a healthy BMI - 24.5 - right now. I think I might change my goal weight to 63.5kg as that would be 22.5 BMI, which I'd be more than happy with. I can always lower it again if/when I reach it. Still have a challenge with hubby for the 2nd of July, but at the moment he's saying he'll start it up again when we reach the UK so he's not even trying right now.

The thing about all my photos was I looked happy in all of them and really that's all that matters. I had already lost about 16kg then and that was enough to give me a whole new boost in life and I still have that gratefulness for what my body can do and being able to do things without getting out of breath - that has never gotten old. Still not brave enough to post any progress pics through, but enjoying seeing the wonderful success of others.

All the extra weight has settled around my midsection as it always has and is the area it will leave last, but I'm used to that and I will take measurements each week to see the progress. I'm already down 4cm at my waist since my birthday blow out at the beginning of the month so there is hope.

Onward and downward! Have a great weekend everyone!

Thank you Shereen! I appreciate your comment. It was a bit hard to face up to the reality of what's happening with my weight, but I feel better about it now that I've recorded it and can move on.

Exactly. Let it go. Don't let it sit in your mind and turn into self loathing and guilt. That's the beauty of the space we have here. No judgements and knowing that you can flunk out here and there, but still pick up and move forward is a massive learning curve for the rest of the FatSecreteers. We're all facing personal stuff and it can't always go according to plan. It's how we move forward that makes us successful 😘

Well said Shereen! Yes, how we move forward from a stumbling block is key. 👍💕

I'm glad you are measuring! I bet your progress is very noticeable. FS is always supportive of photos-so do it in your own time but you will get a lot of comments that will keep you motivated. Congrats on all your accomplishments and getting it all figured out!

I think we had a similar week! I am also feeling more positive this week and can't wait to get my teeth into it (if you pardon the expression lol)

Hey Nikina, I am unable to get the Kauai shake. I phoned their customer care and they said it would only be in a few months time once it's available again. We most certainly on the same page, my next port of call was going to be the Wild Natural Beauty. Now the next question, vanilla or oh so cocoa.

Or strawberry mousse? Have a wonderful day! Xx

Hi LCFF. Yes, I had the same problem and eventually bought the 908g Oh so Cocoa one on Takealot. I suspect it is the exact same product as the Nutritech one though, which I would buy if it was cheaper - same company, just different packaging. I have recently seen the Kauai one back in Checkers again though - R159 in one and R199 in another. For some reason it seemed to be near the baby formula - always seems so hard to find where they are in the store. Hope you have a great day too! xxx

Thanks for that. I read the reviews on Takealot, 2 people said the strawberry was to sweet with an artificial after taste. The other 2 got quite good reviews

I also saw one called Organic Life Nutrition cacao flavour. Totally natural. No artificial colorants, flavours or preservatives. R249 for 750g, works out more or less same price as the Wild Natural, so I'll see. Have a good evening :)

Sounds good. Hope you get a nice one soon. Have a great evening too! :)
