It was absolutely chucking it down here in Sunny Scotland today so we never got out our walk, I had to wait in for a parcel too. My wee yin got new wellies, so no doubt we will be out tmro! We had a very lazy morning then when I was logging my breakfast, I saw a post by Craig Farrington, he was making sausage casserole in his slow cooker. So at 11am I started a cupboard raid to see what veggies I had and started chopping. My sausage stew at dinner time was brilliant. While I was at it, I pulled out the old bread maker and got a wee white loaf on the go. I love fresh bread, the only bad bit is having to smell it bake for 2 hours 😂 I also came across a few old cook books in the cupboard so while I was chopping and mixing, my wee yin was picking recipes for us to try out this week, home made filafel and gingerbread men are on the list. After that, then tidying up,,I'm a bish, bash, bosh kinda cook,,and doing dishes, it was lunch time. Me and my gorgeous girl had fish salads, she had Thai curry flavour and I had bbq, we practically licked our bowls. I then had to wait for a phone call regarding my health, a general check and assessment. I was on the phone for an hour! It was a bit hard hitting and made me a bit emotional hearing all my 'illness' read out. I never think of myself as anything other than fully abled with 'bad days' but as I was talking it hit me how long I've been in pain for, and when you have pain everyday you become so tolerant of it, I have no option but to power through the best I can, for my girls sake, but wow some of it was hard to hear. I didn't realise I've had issues with my spine consistently (had issues before but not constant) for ten years now! So I don't really know how to feel, a good night's sleep will help I think. After that we ate our sausage stew and dunked our still warm bread into the gravy,,another 2clean bowls left!! We cleaned out Turbo's (the tortoise) table and planted him some basil& coriander to chomp, or stomp, through. He is a wee character, and getting so spoiled, we know we need to stop it but we can't help it, he's too cute! We watched some TV and came up to bed. Not a terribly exciting day but I got some more health stuff sorted, done some good home cooking, spent some quality bonding time with my girl and got a good giggle at Turbo sleeping lop sided balancing on a piece of cork,,haha he just 'parked' and fell asleep! My mood is maybe not brilliant but ok, pain not too bad today, mental health dipped a bit but I'm sure tmro will be a better day. I've ate healthy and not went over my calories for the past few days either. Thank you all for your lovely messages and support. It keeps me going through my bad days and I really do appreciate it. Goodnight all, much love 🙏♥️

Hi Anne! My wee yins 8th birthday was in May during last lockdown and I wanted to try and make it special. The kids dont get enough credit, no school, no activities, no friends, no family, they have adapted to home schooling etc and coped amazingly well. So a friend owns a pet shop miles away from us , The Lost World in Ayr. We had seen 3baby tortoises in his shop months before, so every night when my wee yin went to bed, I was downstair sawing and hammering an old writing desk and converting it into a tortoise table. The night before her birthday, my friend drove all the way here and it was military operations trying to get Turbo, bags of soil, food etc in the house and in my bedroom overnight without her knowing. P.s I'm in a top maisonette 4flights of stairs up. Next morning her wee face...she had tears in her eyes.. brilliant! She loves him and it's been great for her, something to get up for during this horrible time. We even bought him a leather harness so we could take him a walk during the summer,,he is spoiled rotten!! IL post a pic of him for u xx

I'm also Scottish with back issues. .I have the osteopath tomorrow after slipping and falling while walking the dog last week. Maybe that's why I got through my four bars of chocolate in two days :( but I'm back on the wagon now. I'd love to hear how the falafels turn out!

How lovely for the wee yin! They must be great pals. Turbo is a great name for a tortoise by the way.

Ouch Swimmer...hope u feel better soon,,back pain is no joke! And I will make filafel soon and post a pic&recipe❤️ Cazza..one of my friends has Lupus and has to deal with a whole host of pains that come with it. I can only imagine what you have to go through. I kinda understand what u mean when u say u look healthy. My mental health/illness means I can have loads of issues going on but I look fine, people can have a hard time understanding what they can't see or they expect more from you than u are capable of giving. Hope u have an easier day tmro ♥️

Anne,,the wee yin picked his name and I buckled....perfect 😂 we debated painting a wee silver lightening streak on his shell but we decided it's probably animal cruelty. The wee yins argument was 'well u can get pink dogs' but I don't think anyone sells tortoise safe paint!!
