A carbfest day for me :) first in a looooong time. The thing which called me was cold mushy peas.... absolutely fabulous. Home cooked, no sugar or crap, dressed with balsamic vinegar. Bliss.
Trouble is I am paying for it now with stomach cramps. Good to know I still can't tolerate pulses. It makes it easy to avoid bad stuff when it hurts the way it does for me :) I had some roast parsnips too.
I am looking forward to the expected hunger pangs. I haven't really felt hunger in years, since I started not being able to eat grains, seeds or pulses. I understand why now, though it was odd at first.
There is no battle, struggle or anger here, just a calm acceptance of what will be will be. Think positive thoughts and reap the rewards.

I just had a flash of the pie and peas stall on Leeds Market as a kid. What seemed like enormous scotch pies topped with mushy peas and mint sauce. 🤤🤤

Ah yes, wonderful memories! Those Scotch pies were always too peppery for me.... but the peas. ... I reckon mushy peas are one of the loveliest things, done right.m My stomach doesn't agree, so it will be mushy pea memories only for a good few years yet. Sigh.
