I'm Deborah, I joined FS when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last November. I have managed with the help of FS food diary to bring my sugar levels down to normal and to lose 2 stone in the process, so that I am now just under 9 stone, less than when I had my last baby over 25 years ago, so I am quite proud of that achievement. I would like to share my success by helping others to beat this disease with encouragement and support.
I now feel fitter and better than I have done for years (though I didn't know that at the time!)
My aim now is to keep my blood sugar levels normal by continuing to follow a well balanced diet and to maintain my fitness levels.
The first is easy...I am a qualified cook (probably my downfall in the first place) the second is more tricky but I find I now feel guilty if I don't get my 6000 steps a day, helped by my Fitbit, a gift from my very understanding husband. So if I'm not power walking around the woods (I love trees and being in woods) or practising yoga (I love the tranquillity this brings) then I am beating up my treadmill when I am at home (we work away in the summer as assistants for the Caravan Club)
And when I am not doing any of the above I knit, I tapestry, I grow herbs and practise aromatherapy, reiki and other spiritual stuff like that, trying to bring healing where I can, as I believe you should always put something back into the world.
